According to my dictionary \u201cit\u2019s a set of treatments which belongs to alternative medicines and which aims to reinforce the organism immune defense system with ways considered as natural (living hygiene, nutrition, phytotherapy, massage etc.)\u201d. Instead of treating the symptoms, naturopathy acts upstream, preventively and with a customized way. Because Julien practices Brazilian jiu-jitsu, he knows our pains and issues perfectly. He knows how to prepare us recipes which will help us manage our training and preparation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>When premenstrual syndrome spoils our training sessions<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yes ladies, each month it shows up and touches all of us mercilessly, from white to black belts. Unfortunately it doesn\u2019t go well for some of us. Headaches, stomach aches, breast pains, attraction for sugary food, behavior changes&#8230; are some of the unpleasant symptoms of the premenstrual syndrome (PMS). \u00a0If it doesn\u2019t take us away from the mat 1 to 15 days, it has more or less impact on our physical or moral shape. It\u2019s impossible to practice in optimal conditions, to progress, well = frustration&#8230;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So it\u2019s time for Julien to give us more details and tips.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Which factors increase the premenstrual syndrome ?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hi<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">jiu-jiteira!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What are these symptoms due to? Nobody really knows but we can deduce that it is because of the hormonal fluctuation, the sudden oestrogen decrease while there\u2019s an progesterone increase then decrease in absence of pregnancy. It\u2019s a bit weird, I agree.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However we know factors which increase the risk to suffer from this syndrome:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Familial medical history <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Smoking<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you don\u2019t move (it shouldn\u2019t be your case)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overweight<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Excess of caffeine, alcohol, sugar or red meat<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Lack of sleep<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stress<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s make PMS tap with a flying armbar? So why not? BJJ might help you if you practise it 3 to 5 times per week. It\u2019s the kind of necessary effort to have an impact on this syndrome but you should also change some of your eating habits !<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What should we avoid to eat to limit the premenstrual syndrome effects?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To begin with, put aside coffee, aperitif, sodas and other sweet drinks. Yes, even your papaye-guava drinks with 15g sugar per 100ml. Drink water and herbal tea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I already hear \u201cMarie-Laure! Who is the bitter guy you let write on your blog?! You can\u2019t let him do that! He wants us to stop to give ourselves a treat!!!\u201d. I love you women! I sincerely only want to help those of you who suffer the most from PMS.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In your dish, you will have to slow down with salt (conserve food, ready-prepared dishes, restaurants&#8230;) and with high glycemic index food : potatoes, white rice, pasta, bread, pizza\u2026 Instead consume food with a low and average GI and including food with fiber like fruits and vegetables, leguminous, whole cereals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also necessary to get your fill of omega 3, magnesium and calcium. I also advise against eating dairy products. You\u2019d better look for calcium in green vegetables (cabbage,broccoli, spinach).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It might be a lot to change for some of you but it might be worth trying for a time, to see what it is to feel good. I invite you to do more research to deal with these kind of food deeper. However I won\u2019t let you without an anti-PMS recipe.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>The anti-PMS recipe to be at your best at BJJ: green lentils salad <\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We will use green lentils which are rich in mineral salts, fibres, vegetal proteins and have an average glycemic index ; sage which is a good menstrual cycle regulator ; cauliflower rich in calcium ; rapeseed oil which has omega 3 ; Brazil nuts (special mention!) rich in magnesium. Well everything is here to help you!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Utensils<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 pan<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 salad bowl<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 knife + 1 chopping board<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 colander<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ingredients<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3\/4 L of water<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 cup of green lentils<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00bd red onion<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 sage leaves (or bay leaves)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1\/4 cauliflower <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 Brazil nuts<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 big handful of \u00a0young spinach shoots<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2 dessert spoon of rapeseed oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 lemon juice<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Combate\u00a0!<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pour the water into the pan, add the lentils, the sage leaves and bring it to the boil.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When it boils, reduce heat to medium and add the onion you already chopped finely and let it cook 10 minutes. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dry the lentils, pull out the sage leaves and let it cool down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Put lentils, spinach, oil and lemon juice in a salad bowl.<\/p>\n<p><a
